STEWARD’S LAZZAT Spices For Jalfrezi – 50g


The capsaicin quantities in jalfrezi are notable, so it is one of the healthiest dishes to absorb capsaicin’s healthy qualities from.



You will need:

2½ Tbs (25g) spices for Jalfrezi
1 Tbs white sugar
750g chicken breast fillets or 3 boneless chicken legs (cut into pieces)
½ green and ½ red capsicum cut in 2 cm size (optional)
½ cup tomato puree
½ Tbs garlic paste
½ Tbs ginger paste
1 big onion, sliced
10ml fresh cream
Cooking oil
2 tsp ghee
Curry leaves and chopped coriander leaves


In a cooking pot, heat oil and ghee on medium flame, sauté the onion and curry leaves.
Add chicken, stir well. Cover pot and allow cooking for 10 minutes over medium heat.
Add garlic and ginger, stir well. Add spices for Jalfrezi and stir well. Add enough water just to cover the chicken, cover the pot and cook for 15 minutes.
Add tomato, sugar and some coriander. Cover the pot and cook on medium/low heat for 5 minutes.
Add capsicum and cream, allow cooking for 2 minutes more.
Sprinkle with the remaining coriander.
Serve with basmati rice, salads and fried pappadam (papad).
